In partnership with the office of California State Controller John Chiang, the CUP will organize financial survival workshops connected to Manage Your Money Week (MYMW). During Manage Your Money Week, state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, unions, schools, libraries, financial institutions, and financial management associations will be working together in communities throughout California to host free money management education events and promote the importance of good money management practices. On Saturday, October, 25, 2014, the CUP will present MORE MONEY, LESS PROBLEMS: a free workshop on how to make dreams come true by managing money, stress and health, and creating partnerships to build wealth.
The workshop will target working class people and those impacted by the Great Recession. With a focus on how families and friends can learn, share responsibilities and work together, MORE MONEY, LESS PROBLEMS will help participants understand how to begin a journey towards a secure financial future.
They will receive expert advice and be connected to valuable resources to assist them in getting and staying motivated, healthy and stress-free; relationships and cooperative living; legal considerations; and, planning and managing money.
Participants will leave this workshop with solid guidance on how families and friends can collaborate – along with all facets of personal and group finance – from opening a checking account and managing a budget, to credit counseling, first-time home buying, avoiding financial scams, obtaining education and training for a better paying job, starting a business, and planning for retirement.
In addition to this workshop, participants can obtain a FREE, private consultation on their financial issues with highly qualified CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals.
The availability of Certified Financial Planners is made possible by our MYMW partners at the Financial Planning Association of Northern California, along with other co-hosts that include the City of West Sacramento, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., Foundation for Financial Planning, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
