MISSION
(WHY WE EXIST)
The CALIFORNIA URBAN PARTNERSHIP’s (CUP) mission is to build economic security in Black communities through policy research, education and organizing community action. We advocate for systems changes that increase investments to improve the health and wealth of California's most marginalized people and places. This is community power building work, and it happens at the local and state level.
VISION
(WHAT WE SEEK TO ACHIEVE)
We envision neighborhoods in regions where race is never a barrier for people to live, be healthy, raise families and become thriving entrepreneurs, highly skilled workers and homeowners who create jobs and lasting wealth for future generations. Neighborhoods of choice where children, youth, adults and families from all walks of life are empowered with opportunities, tools and resources to become healthy and economically secure. The residents actively participate in improving their communities. These places thrive because they have become regional assets, offering a workforce well-prepared to meet emerging industry needs, and a positive environment for investment, job creation, quality affordable housing and the arts.
